With Love, From NY

Window Display

As a team we designed and fabricated a window display for The Fashion Institute of Technology called “With Love, From NY”. This window display aims to celebrate the various cultures and coexistence of New Yorkers. New York City is one of the most populated cities in the world filled with every race, culture, and age. It’s a patchwork quilt of people with diverse ideas and lifestyles all on their own journeys. We welcome you to take a look inside the lives of your neighbors.

One of the main features of this display are the handcrafted dolls taking inspiration from the Théâtre de la Mode Paris wartime exhibition figurines. We used copper wire to create the body, hands, arms, and legs, and 3D printed white heads to give the dolls a modern and unique look. We hope that these dolls will bring joy and appreciation to those who see them, and serve as a testament to the beauty that can be created through traditional techniques and modern technology. The building is modeled after a Chelsea brownstone and stands tall to represent the permanence that we New Yorkers are here to stay. The I ❤️ NY sign in the center of the building amplifies our message that New York is our center that connects us all together.
